04/05/2011 - Letter to trustees on the BBC Editorial Standards Committee
BBC Trustees 13th April 2011 Dear
" I wish with all my heart that everyone fighting in this war and above all those whose duty it is to direct the war from Britain and America could come with me ... into this world of a nightmare " I wrote to you all on the Editorial Standards Committee 3 weeks ago in this run up to the 10th anniversary of 9/11. I included a paper I had been circulating to your newsreaders and Director General entitled " A Conspiracy of Silence ? " In it I tried to succinctly contrast the official view of 9/11 and the subsequent war on terror which was premised on 9/11 against the wealth of evidence and experience from many disparate individuals and experts involved in the 9/11 Truth movement. I asked all the recipients of that paper to study it in the run up to the 9/11 anniversary and to see whether it matched the news they had been presenting to the nation over the past 10 years. The BBC has consistently portrayed the official version. In essence I and many others believe you have been presenting a profoundly wrong account of 9/11 and therefore a skewed account of the war on terror. I invited you to investigate that on your committee as indeed you are able to and charged to as trustees of a much respected and public organisation. I have not heard from you. I therefore write this second letter to urge you again to investigate 9/11 and your reporting of it based on the evidence clearly presented in the websites I offered previously. This time I circulate this letter to respected friends and leaders in the 9/11 Truth movement to show our solidarity and commitment to truth and justice. I believe I speak on behalf of all the names listed below when I say we hope that you, as an Independent and major broadcaster, will on this 10th anniversary, stop the warped presentation we have become accustomed to. A great many innocent civilians deserve better than that. The wealth of evidence offered is enormous and runs counter to your reporting of it and I respectfully invite you again to conduct your investigation. Your terms of reference at 10.5 dated December 2010 clearly say you are able to conduct investigations in accordance with your Protocol E2. I note that you have the authority to access any information at the BBC under an "open book" policy. I also note you are able to call any BBC employee to assist you in your investigations and to request any information from the Executive Board which it has to provide to you without delay. In particular I was struck by 2.2 of your Protocol which states as part of your function that you may conduct investigations into any activity of the BBC which do not comply with Trust requirements and such investigations could result from information brought to the Trust by a third party (ie me). I also note you may call any of us to assist in your investigation. I feel confident in saying we would be happy to send a small group of representatives. Something of this magnitude cannot be swept under the carpet or be ignored. To echo Richard Dimbleby, our forebears fought a war against tyranny. One of tyranny's main allies is deceit. Truth and decency are the vital foundations to our security, freedoms and well being aswell as those of others. Of all the people who call for the truth to be exposed about 9/11 it is the survivors and the family members of victims whose voices are the strongest. Please, this 10th anniversary, honour those people by committing the BBC to giving a much more truthful and more honourable account to those horrific events. Yours Sincerely, Paul Warburton cc the Trustee Editorial Standards Committee members; Richard Ayre, Anthony Fry, Alison Hastings, David Liddiment, Mehmuda Mian, Elan Closs Stephens
